Molecular genetic diagnostics
Molecular genetic diagnostics is a technique of body examination allowing to exactly and quickly detect viruses and infections, gene mutations causing abnormal conditions, to assess the risks of hereditary and other diseases. And this is far from being the full scope of DNA analysis potentialities.
The greatest advantage of molecular genetic diagnostics is the minimal extent of medical intervention as the analysis is made in vitro. This technique is successfully used even for diagnosis of embryo diseases, and also in debilitated patients and those in poor condition.
The most common specimen for the analysis is venous blood; however it is possible to separate DNA/RNA from other fluids and tissues: saliva, mucosa scrape, genital discharge, amniotic fluid, hair, nails, etc.
Molecular diagnostics is a great stride forward to personalized medicine, making it possible to take into consideration all the distinctive features of a specific patient undergoing examination and therapy.
